CORRECTIONAL EXPERTS ROOT FOR A UNIFIED INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

By Martha Munyambu

Correctional practitioners, national and international actors, experts, and other stakeholders gathered on the second day of the Correctional Service Week 2026 to explore innovative approaches of reforming Kenya's correctional system.

In one of the sessions, meant to explore technology-driven solutions for integrating offender records and automating correctional operations, experts called for the need to have a unified information management system to better track offender supervision, rehabilitation, and community reintegration.

Complementing this vision, Ghislain d’Adesky of Telio Company, a strategic partner in correctional automation, presented digital solutions designed to transition operations away from paper-based systems.

He emphasized that successful implementation relies on strong organisational commitment and partnerships.

Discussions focused on how centralised data can enhance cross institutional coordination, drive evidence-based decision-making, and ultimately support successful rehabilitation into society.

The three-day conference, themed Transforming Correctional Services through Technology and Green solutions will end on Thursday with a gala dinner to fete some of the State Department for Correctional Services best performers slated for later in the evening.
