BOOST FOR HEALTHCARE SERVICES AS WANINI KIRERI MAGEREZA LEVEL IV HOSPITAL IS COMMISSIONED

The 150-bed Wanini Kireri Magereza Level IV Hospital was commissioned on Monday marking a key milestone in efforts aimed at delivering quality healthcare to correctional service officers, inmates and the surrounding community.

Speaking after commissioning the facility, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the latest development was a testament to President William Ruto’s commitment to the national healthcare agenda of achieving universal health coverage through targeted investment ranging from health workforce to related infrastructure.

 The facility, located at the Prisons Staff Training College in Ruiru, has already been integrated with Social Health Authority’s Usalama cover Public Officers Medical Scheme which will provide comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, maternity, specialized care, and emergency evacuation for officers within the State Department and their dependents.

Equipped with the state-of-the-art medical facilities, the hospital becomes one of the latest facilities to support the government’s broad healthcare reforms agenda aimed at advancing Kenya's ambitious commitment to modernize healthcare and medical infrastructure meant to secure every person the right to the highest attainable standard of health, including accessible healthcare services and emergency medical treatment.

The hospital boasts of key sections among them the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), Radiology unit, Dental unit, maternity wing, male and female wards and a pediatric ward and will offer various services including dental and renal services.
