A guidance and counselling unit has been established at the Kamae Girls Borstal Institute as part of ongoing reforms targeting institutions dealing with children and young persons in conflict with the law.
While addressing the young girls housed at the facility, State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco urged them to be prepared to learn and use the experience to change the course of their lives.
She urged them to be disciplined and committed to rehabilitation and reformation efforts, while taking advantage of the security and peace of mind at the Correctional institution during the time they will spend at the facility.
“Be dedicated, focused and committed and ensure that once you leave these premises you become role models out there,” She said.
She urged the officers to take care of the girls so that they don't feel neglected while pledging her full support.
The PS appreciated Simani Africa Organization for their support towards renovation of the counselling unit as well as other partners for their donations to the girls.
