CORRECTIONALSERVICES PS HOSTS RECEPTION DINNER FOR KENYA NATIONAL NETBALL TEAM

State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr Salome Beacco Friday hosted a reception dinner for the triumphant Kenya National Netball Team following their victory at the Singapore Mirxes Nations Cup 2024. 

The team, comprising mostly officers from the Kenya Prisons Service, managed to win the title against Singapore Vandas 61-33 in the finals. 

“May I take this chance to congratulate the national Netball team for the truly wonderful achievement. I must say the whole country is proud of your hard work that has once again placed Kenya on the world map.” Said the PS.

She applauded the team for exhibiting team spirit which enabled them to win the championship in a feat that saw Kenya improve its world ranking to number 18 from position 23rd.  

Present were Sports PS Peter Tum, his PS Parliamentary Affairs counterpart Auralia Rono, Commissioner General of Prisons Patrick Aranduh and senior officers from the Sports Department. 

Tum took the chance to congratulate the team pledging the government’s commitment to support sports and related infrastructure. 

Kenya claimed the 2024 Mirxes National Cup title earlier this month with a commanding performance defeating Singapore Vandas in the finals and qualified for the Africa cup of Nations set to be held in Namibia in December 2024
