It was pomp and colour as the State Department for Correctional Services celebrated some of those exiting the service in a farewell party held at the Nakuru ASK show grounds.

Among those who were celebrated during the event was the outgoing Rift Valley Regional Prisons Commander ACGP Barnaba Keino and SSP John Rotich.

Speaking during the celebrations, Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco thanked the officers for their commitment to duty that she said has contributed to ensuring the success of envisaged reforms.

She described the two as distinguished officers whose unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and steadfast commitment significantly contributed to the advancement of correctional services in Kenya.

“Indeed, your collective efforts have profoundly shaped and elevated this service in ways too numerous to fully capture. The impact of your work will continue to resonate for generations.” She noted.

The PS challenged Kenya Prisons Retirees association to look into the possibility of establishing an endowment fund for retired prison officers to support them once they exit active service.

She at the same time encouraged those who have retired to remain active by engaging in productive activities and prepare adequately for retirement by calculating the standard of life they desire after retirement during their working life.

Among those present during the celebrations were Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Jane Kirii who was representing Commissioner General of Prisons Patrick Aranduh, Former Commissioner General of Prisons Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba, Director Prison Enterprise Peter Njoroge and Central Rift ASK chairman, Dr. Perminus Migwi.
