GLOWING TRIBUTES AS FORMER COMMISSIONER GENERAL OF PRISONS EXITS THE STAGE

Outgoing Commissioner General of prisons Brig (Rtd) John Warioba won accolades for his performance at the Kenya Prisons Service as his term in office came to a close.

In a farewell organized in his honour, those who worked with him described the retired brigadier as committed, dedicated and diligent.

Speaking at the ceremony, State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco described the former Commissioner General as a team player, time conscious, bold and one who always valued the family unit.

"You will all agree with me that the Brigadier has diligently served Kenya Prisons Service and the Country," she said.

The PS saying the former prisons boss was at hand to take her through the operations of the Kenya Prions Service when she joined the State department for correctional services. 

" Through you, I was able to learn about the State Department for Correctional Services and the critical role the department plays in the criminal justice system and the security architecture of our department," she noted.

She promised to work hand in hand with the new prions boss Patrick Aranduh towards realizing envisaged reforms.

"Am hoping working together with the new Commissioner we will be able to take the Service to the next level," she said. 

In his speech, the outgoing commissioner of prisons urged prison staff to observe diligence even as he recognized their support and those of all stakeholders.

"I want to take this opportunity to sincerely express my gratitude to each and every one of you for the period we worked together in the State Department. I also want to greatly appreciate our partners who have continued to walk with us in the journey of rehabilitating offenders," he said.

The new Commissioner General of prisons described his predecessor as a fair, firm and committed leader who was instrumental in the milestones achieved by the service in recent years.
