CORRECTIONAL SERVICES PS: LET’S PRIORITIZE IMPACTFUL PROGRAMMES

Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco has underscored the critical role played by probation officers in the criminal justice system.

Speaking during a meeting with directors drawn from probation and aftercare service, the PS said the role of conducting social inquiries that informs supervision and re-integration of offenders remains paramount in efforts aimed at addressing emerging security threats.

This even as she challenged probation officers to prioritize rendering services that are more impactful to the community including those that target school going children.

“Children should be taken care at primary and secondary level in an effort to shape them into responsible citizens,” she observed.

She urged the senior officers to be good stewards in implementing the agenda of the state deportment in line with this year’s theme of efficient service delivery for the common good.

“Keep challenging those under you. Let’s focus on revolutionizing and enhancing efficiency,” the PS challenged the team.

She at the same time urged the officers to put more efforts in planting and growing trees in line with the government’s target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, as envisioned by President William Ruto.

She was accompanied by Probation and Aftercare Service Secretary Dr. Christine Obondi.
